Lt. Colonel MS Dhoni To Hoist Tri-Colour In Leh On Independence Day

Former India captain MS Dhoni is currently posted in Kashmir, serving the Indian army and for this he opted to miss West Indies tour. Dhoni is serving the Territorial Army as an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel.  He was recently seen enjoying a game of volleyball with his fellow soldiers. A viral picture also showed him polishing his shoes as Dhoni continues to enjoy his life in the uniform.

He recently visited Baramulla and the experience was not pleasant at all.  Hundreds of locals came to saw Dhoni but their intention was pretty much different. Instead of catching a glimpse of the legendary cricketer, they were in a mood to protest. As soon as they saw Dhoni, they started slogans of Pakistani All-Rounder Shahid Afridi.

But just like he behaves on the cricket field, Dhoni remained cool and composed. He is now going to make his fans even more proud with yet another brilliant act in army uniform. The legendary cricketer is all set to hoist the Indian Flag on the occasion of Independence Day in Leh in the newly-created union territory of Ladakh.

Dhoni is currently serving in Khrew in the Pulwama district of Jammu & Kashmir, along with members of his Territorial Army battalion. Defence sources said on Thursday that Dhoni is scheduled to travel along with his regiment to Leh on August 10th.

“Dhoni is a brand ambassador of the Indian Army. He has engaged in motivating members of his unit and has often been playing football and volleyball with the soldiers. He is also undertaking battle training exercises with the corps. He will remain in the valley till August 15,” an army official told IANS
