Umesh Yadav will be replacing injured Jasprit Bumrah for South Africa Test series

Veteran pacer Umesh Yadav will replace pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for the three upcoming Tests against South Africa in India. Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the series with a minor stress fracture in his lower back.

Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested from the T20I series due to injury that the two sides drew 1-1. "He will now undergo rehabilitation at NCA and will be monitored by the BCCI Medical Team," BCCI stated in a release on Tuesday (September 24).

Umesh Yadav, who hadn't been picked in the initial squad, last played a Test in Perth 2018 when India toured Australia, bagging 2 wickets in the 1st innings. He, however, remained wicketless in the second innings. In 41 Tests so far, he has picked 119 wickets, with the average of 33.47.

The 1st of three Tests match scheduled on October 2 in Vizag, followed by Tests in Pune and Ranchi.
