Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium renamed after Arun Jaitley, pavilion stand named as Virat Kohli stand in ceremony held at JLN Stadium, Delhi

DDCA unveiled a new pavilion stand at the Feroz Shah Kotla(Arun Jaitley Stadium) after skipper Virat Kohli, who recently became the most successful India captain in Test cricket, surpassing MS Dhoni record of most winds.

Virat expressed his happiness after being honoured with a stand to his name.

Virat Kohli said he remembered seeking autographs from India players when he came to the stadium to watch the Test match against Zimbabwe in 2001. Virat Kohli further expressed his gratitude for being honoured at the same venue.

"In 2000-2001, there was a Test vs Zimbabwe at Kotla. We were sitting across from the pavillion stand. Sehwag, Yuvi paaji, Srinath was standing at the boundary. I was asking him for an autograph. Never thought I would ever be honoured at the same stadium." Virat Kohli thanked DDCA president Rajat Sharma, his team, Kapil Dev and his family during the unveiling ceremony which was held at the Weightlifting Hall of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. "I am a bit nervous seeing so many important people. I was not expecting such a grand stage to honour me. Thank You Rajat Sir(DDCA President) and my team who is present here. All the former players of Delhi, Kapil Dev Sir, I thank you a lot. It's weird to talk about this but I just want to thank the people who are present here - my wife and family.
